Dr. Wendi Tostenson, D.P.A. serves as the fifth President of Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tennessee, where she leads a multi-campus institution focused on student success, workforce alignment, and regional economic development. Since her appointment in 2024, she has advanced a strategic, student-centered vision centered on retention, completion, and the development of innovative pathways connecting education to high-demand careers. 

With more than two decades of experience in higher education, Dr. Tostenson brings a comprehensive leadership background spanning academic affairs, workforce development, and executive administration. Prior to her presidency, she served as Vice Chancellor of Education and Student Services at Louisiana Delta Community College, where she provided oversight for academic programs, workforce and economic development, adult education, and enrollment services, managing a portfolio exceeding $20 million. Her leadership contributed to record institutional growth and the expansion of industry-aligned training programs across key economic sectors. 

Dr. Tostenson is a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who prioritizes strong governance, data-informed decision-making, and transparent communication. She is deeply committed to building inclusive leadership cultures within higher education and to advancing opportunities for women in executive leadership roles. Through her work with regional and state partners, she champions policies and practices that strengthen institutional effectiveness while expanding access and economic mobility for students and communities. 

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Georgia, a Master of Business Administration from the University of West Georgia, and a Doctorate in Public Administration with a concentration in Public Policy from Valdosta State University. Dr. Tostenson remains actively engaged in professional and civic organizations that support leadership development and the future of higher education.
