Dr. Steven Jones became the 10th president of Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) on January 1, 2025, and is the youngest sitting college president in the state. An Aspen Institute Rising Presidents Fellow, he holds degrees from Hinds Community College, Mississippi College, and The University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned his Ph.D. in higher education administration, along with additional fellowships and certificates in leadership and diversity. Before his presidency, he served as MDCC’s Vice President of Administrative and Student Services, securing millions in grants and legislative funding, and previously directed Title III and Sponsored Grants at Hinds Community College. With more than 18 years of leadership experience across healthcare, law, and higher education, Dr. Jones has taught at The University of Southern Mississippi, led professional associations, and earned recognition from Mississippi College, Delta Business Journal, and the U.S. Department of Defense. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and time with family and friends.
