Dr. John Turner is the Dean of Student Services for the Ybor City Campus of Hillsborough College, where he leads a comprehensive student support division encompassing enrollment, counseling and advising, career services, disability support, testing, admissions, and student life.

With over 20 years of experience in higher education leadership, Dr. Turner brings a deep background in student services and institutional operations. Prior to joining Hillsborough, he served as the Executive Dean at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas and the Vice Chancellor and Provost – Chief Academic and Student Affairs Officer at Louisiana Delta Community College in Monroe, Louisiana.

Dr. Turner holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville.

Known for his commitment to student success, Dr. Turner leads efforts at Hillsborough to enhance access, support, and engagement for a diverse student population across Ybor City and the broader Tampa Bay region. His leadership emphasizes integrated student services and strategic support to help learners navigate admission, enrollment, support services, and career pathways in a rapidly evolving academic environment.

In his role, Dr. Turner aims to foster a student-centered campus culture that balances operational excellence with empathetic support, ensuring every student has the resources and guidance needed to succeed.
