Vice President of Student Equity and Success

College of Southern Maryland (CSM)

Tracy Harris has over 35 years of higher education experience and twenty-two years’ experience working and supporting community college students and administration. Currently, Dr. Harris serves as the Vice President of Student Equity and Success for College of Southern Maryland (CSM). Prior appointments include serving as Vice President and Dean for CSM’s Leonardtown Campus, Dean of Enrollment Services for Prince George’s Community College, Associate Dean of Admissions for Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Associate Director of Admission and Financial Aid at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Harris earned a Ph.D. in Community College Leadership from Walden University, a master’s in Public Administration with certification in Personnel and Labor Relations from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice from The Pennsylvania State University. Several accomplishments include deploying an academic advising model to support students at varying credit benchmarks (15, 24, 30, and 45), developing a faculty advising model, and creation of student athlete and men of color academic success programs increasing student persistence by 40%. Dr. Harris is Chairperson for the Achieving the Dream (ATD) Initiative at the College of Southern Maryland and has served as past chairperson for the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce, chairperson for MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital Quality, Safety and Professional Development Council, and Secretary for the St. Mary’s County Economic Development Commission.
