North Florida College

John Grosskopf has served as the President of North Florida College (NFC) in Madison, Florida, since January 20, 2009. He joined the college in 2001, holding various roles including English Instructor, Director of Teaching and Learning, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Chief Academic Officer. He briefly served as Acting President in 2008 before becoming the eighth president of NFC. Under Grosskopf’s leadership, NFC has received numerous accolades, including: Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence (Top 150) four times, Chronicle of Higher Education Great College to Work For designation for nine consecutive years, Bellwether College Consortium Finalist, U.S. News & World Report’s #2 Top Public School in the Southern Region, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Reach Award, and the highest graduation rate in the Florida College System for three consecutive years. Grosskopf holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in English from Florida International University, a Master of Arts in English from Florida State University, and a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Learning with a specialization in Higher Education Leadership from Aspen University. He has presented at various educational conferences both nationally and internationally, and has published several literary papers stemming from his research. A graduate of The Chair Academy’s leadership programs, Grosskopf has also participated in the Florida Chancellor’s Leadership Seminar, returning as a speaker on multiple occasions. He has been an active member of the Florida College System Council of Presidents, serving as its Chair from 2013 to 2014, and recently completed a six-year term on the Board of Trustees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – Commission on Colleges. A native of Hialeah, Florida, Grosskopf is the first in his family to graduate high school and is a passionate advocate for education. He and his wife, Patricia, have five children and reside in Madison, Florida.
