Finger Lakes Community College

Dr. Robert Nye serves as the 5th President of Finger Lakes Community College and is currently in his 8th year. Previous to serving at FLCC, he served in the United States Army for 30 years where he was commissioned as a 2d Lieutenant of Infantry upon graduation from the University of Arizona with a Finance degree. During his career, he was assigned to multiple infantry units including the 82d Airborne Division, 101st Airborne Division, and the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum. He also served in assignments in Alaska and overseas in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He retired in 2013 as a Full Colonel. He earned his Master of Public Administration from Cornell University while teaching ROTC at Cornell. He later earned his PhD in public administration from the University of Kansas where he subsequently taught and served as the deputy dean and deputy provost at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, PA. In 2013 he became the vice president of academic affairs at Thaddeus Stevens College in Lancaster, PA before coming to Canandaigua and FLCC. Rob is happily married to Suzanne, and they have two children. Kennedy, is an Army doctor serving his residency in surgery at Walter Reed National Military Hospital in Bethesda, MD, and their daughter Rachel works for Gallo wines in Central CA.
