For thirty-eight years Dr. Jim Catanzaro served as a community college president: five years in California, six in Ohio, three in Illinois and twenty-four as president of Chattanooga State Community College in Tennessee. His tenure as president was marked by outstanding institutional performance against key academic and fiscal measures, high-impact entrepreneurial initiatives, and strong partnerships with business, industry and the professions. Winning two national Bellwether Awards — for Instruction, and for Workforce Development — and forging industry-leading training partnerships with Volkswagen America, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and Wacker Chemie, President Catanzaro developed a profile as one of America’s most innovative community college leaders.
